📖Weekend Reflection

Weekend Reflection: Yesterday's Survival vs Today's Living

"See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?" — Isaiah 43:19

There was a time when surviving was enough.

For some of us, surviving meant learning to stay quiet.

For others, it meant pretending everything was okay.

Some survived by building walls.

Others survived by never letting anyone get too close.

Survival isn't weakness.

Sometimes it's the very thing that kept us alive.

But what protected us yesterday can quietly become the prison that limits us today.

There comes a moment in healing when God gently whispers,

"You don't have to live there anymore."

That's easier said than done.

When you've lived in survival mode for years, peace can feel unfamiliar.

Rest can feel uncomfortable.

Love can feel suspicious.

Joy can almost seem dangerous because you've learned to expect the next disappointment.

Healing isn't forgetting where you've been.

Healing is realizing you no longer have to make decisions from yesterday's pain.

God isn't asking us to erase our story.

He's asking us to stop letting the hardest chapters write the ending.

Every small step toward peace matters.

Every time you choose hope instead of fear...

Every time you believe you're worthy of kindness...

Every time you refuse to let yesterday define today...

You're no longer just surviving.

You're learning how to live.

And that's a beautiful place to begin.

🌸 Weekend Prayer

Father,

Thank You for carrying me through the seasons when survival was all I knew.

Today, teach my heart that I don't have to keep living as though I'm still trapped by what You've already brought me through.

Help me recognize the difference between protection and fear.

Give me the courage to lay down what I no longer need to carry and the faith to embrace the life You have prepared for me.

Teach me how to truly live—not just survive.

In Jesus' name,

Amen. 🤍
